Ferrero Rocher

In a move that will surely stop further confusion and make our lives easier in the process, Ferrero is set to acquire Ferrara Candy. The deal will attempt to be completed by the end of 2017 and expected to cost about $1.3 billion.

Ferrero – the Italian company behind Ferrero Rocher, Tic Tac mints, and Nutella – is looking to get into the gummy candy market with this acquisition. Ferrara Candy Co makes Lemonheads, RedHots and owns Trolli – most famous for their gummy worms, along with some of my personal favorites.

What this means for Big Candy…

More importantly, this could mean a larger presence for Ferrero in North America + the USA. Ferrero’s Kinder chocolate is already very popular abroad. Right now, I’m in the UK and I can attest to that – Kinder Bueno is everywhere!

It could also lead to larger distribution for Ferrara’s lesser-known candies.

Either way, it is big news in the candy industry, and one can only hope it leads to great things for both parties. It could be just the first domino too as experts are also saying that Ferrero could be looking to acquire Nestle now.
