Planning to move to a new house? Then it probably is an exciting moment that you have been waiting for. But indeed moving out is not always easy. There are tons of things that you should do, and sorting out your priorities can give you a headache.

One crucial task that you have to do before moving to your new house, is to clean it thoroughly before moving in. Whether it’s a newly built house or previously occupied, cleaning should be your top priority when moving into a new home. After all, dust, dirt, and debris can be found in many areas of the new home.

While you might have hired post tenancy cleaning for your previous home, you can handle the cleaning of your new home by yourself. Don’t worry about where to begin; because we have curated the essential tips to make cleaning your new house much easier!

Clean the House Before Moving In the Furniture

To simplify the cleaning process, you should clean the house before moving in your furniture and belongings. With the house empty, you have access to all areas, including floors, walls, ceiling, and even all the nook and cranny. This will make it easier to clean thoroughly without having to move around the heavy furniture.

Clean from the Highest Point of the House

When cleaning your new house, always begin with the higher areas of the house – such as the ceiling or walls. This prevents dust from settling back into the already-cleaned surfaces. To start cleaning the ceiling, you can utilize a clean broom or long-handled feather duster to remove all the cobwebs.

This cleaning method is proven to be very beneficial for a new house, and thus you should do it for every room; from the bedroom, the living room, to any areas of the house.

Prioritize Hard-to-Clean Ares

Focus on cleaning areas that will be hard to reach once the house is furnished. This can include the walls, ceiling, air vents, and the attics if you have one. Cleaning these spots beforehand can be a great way to start your cleaning process, after all these areas will be difficult to access later when all furniture is already loaded into the new home.

Clean the Bathroom

You should clean the bathroom afterward, as you’ll likely need to use it right away after you move. To clean the bathroom glass, vanity drawers, and all handles or knobs in the bathroom –  you can use an all-purpose cleaner.

But for more difficult dirt such as mold or mildew on window sills, it is better to use a bleach cleaner as it is more effective at killing the mold and mildew spores and removing their stains. Unlike regular cleaners, bleach has strong antimicrobial properties that will not only help to clean but also disinfect any future growth of mold and mildew.

Pay Attention to the Kitchen Area

If the previous tenant left any furniture or kitchenware, ensure to clean them all before use. You can utilize an all-purpose cleaner to clean the stovetop, and pay special attention to dirty drip pans. Thoroughly clean the area between the stove, and the glass cooktop or gas burners to ensure proper functionality of the stove.

Use a clean cloth with any cleaner you can find to clean the kitchen cabinet and shelves. You can also use the cloth to clean the hard-to-reach spots in the kitchen to remove any dirt or dust. Lastly, you can also clean the kitchen sink using a natural method which is baking soda. You can just sprinkle the baking soda on the sink and scrub it with a damp sponge before rinsing it thoroughly with water.

Take Care of The Floor

As the final step, you can clean the floor of your new home afterward. Start by sweeping or vacuuming, before thoroughly mopping the floors. Cleaning the floor should be the last step because it is the area that is most likely to collect dust and debris from the rest of the cleaning process. By addressing the floor last, you can ensure that any dirt or particles that come from cleaning the other surfaces will not settle on your freshly cleaned floors.
