Food — and sweets in particular — have always been a driving force behind my love for a book. To this day, I’m drawn to books with pictures of food on the cover. It’s why my bookshelf is lined with things like The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake and The Sugar Queen. Here are my favorite children’s book treats:

– Snow candy from Little House in the Big Woods
– Scrumdiddlyumptious from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
– Butterscotch Krimpets from Maniac Magee
– Lollipops from Many Luscious Lollipops (an adjective book)
– The marshmallow marsh from Jamberry
– Cocoa and doughnuts from Betsy~Tacy
