This post about sweets featured in children’s books on The Kitchn caught my eye. They talked up Harry Potter, the Little House books, the Chronicles of Narnia, and, of course, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Those are all good ones, but they left out one of my favorites – Brian Jacques’s Redwall series! That man could really whip up some amazing food descriptions: candied chestnuts, skilly ‘n’ duff, deeper ‘n’ ever turnip ‘n’ tater ‘n’ beetroot pie (okay, that one’s not a sweet. But doesn’t it sound delicious?). He even inspired a cookbook.
What are your favorite children’s books’ treats?
