I completely understand! I occasionally tell people that something tastes like something smells and they give me funny looks.

For example, I had some imported “Soy sauce-flavored” crunchy snack the other day (called Hapi Mochi or something like that) and it bounced between three flavors: Soy sauce (okay), seaweed (not so okay), and what a dorm room smells like. I initially wanted to hurl when I first encountered that last flavor but then I was entertained by imagining my friends eating some of the snack as well and the faces they would be making. After that, I kind of enjoyed “dorm room flavor”.
