Found your post on the Blog Action Day main page, and I don't think it's a downer! You've brought to light some very important considerations and furthered the discussion in a positive way.

I've blogged about the potential for online fundraising to combat poverty when it comes to hunger and other needs at: http://www.onlinefundraisingblog.com/2008/10/online-fundraising-to-combat-poverty/

Hello!
Thanks for posting on the UN Millennium Project and foreign aid. I work for an organization called Millennium Promise, co-founded by Professor Jeffrey Sachs, and we're working to achieve the Millennium Development Goals by putting into practice many of the recommendations of the UN Millennium Project. One of our initiatives is the Millennium Villages project, which implements targeted, integrated and community-led interventions in agriculture, health, education and infrastructure to help communities lift themselves out of extreme poverty. The project currently reaches 80 villages in 10 countries in sub-Saharan Africa.
Our work is premised on the belief that, for the first time in history, our generation can end extreme poverty, hunger and preventable disease.

Thanks again for writing!
